About Us

Meet your hosts, Marty and Lisa

Marty and Lisa were both born and raised in West Virginia. Marty is a retired coal miner, and Lisa is a retired middle school math teacher. They grew up in communities where the ATVs outnumbered cars and trucks so opening a trailhouse business was a natural step for them.

Since the trails are practically in their backyard, they decided to invest and open the first place of lodging in the Hatfield McCoy trail system. They love to ride their Can-Am, meet new and old friends and relax in the best rural West Virginia has to offer.

Our History

Marty and Lisa opened Browning Fork Trailhouse when the Hatfield McCoy Trails were young (2002). It was the first place to stay on the system. The demand for lodging was so overwhelming that by the end of the year, they decided to expand -- adding units 2 and 3 in 2003 plus unit 4 and Rider’s Retreat a few years later. Over the years, they have kept thousands of riders and made many friends!

The hospitality that Marty and Lisa showed to my group and I puts new meaning to “how can I make your stay more pleasant?” One thing Marty, Lisa, and Daniel were not short of was generosity and the feeling like family without ever meeting previously. Unfortunately, my wife was bitten by a copperhead while taking a walk. The next amazing gesture of kindness displayed by Marty and Lisa makes this place a “one of a kind” lodging facility. Lisa and Marty offered to let me stay as their guest til my wife was out of the hospital.
